Final Task: Murder Trails

Below is my final task. I enjoyed working on it throughout this year, despite the many challenges I had. I hope you enjoy watching it!

Getting Ready to Post the Final Task

I will be posting the opening sequence for my final task tomorrow and I am very excited to do so. I have been preparing for this project all year, so I know that I was able to put my best foot forward with my final. I was very happy with the way my film came out because I thought it was going to be extremely choppy and hard to follow, which from what I gathered in my peer review, it is not. I am very proud of everything I have done and learned so far because it has made my result look so much better. I can see where my hard work paid off and how I was able to apply my knowledge to the situation. Even so, this class was stressful because I had a lot of work to do. On the bright side, if I take another filming class, I know I will do great because this experience has prepared me for so much. I take peace in knowing that I am almost done with this class and that everything I have done will amount to something. I know my friends and my parents are extremely proud of me because they have se

Peer Review of Final Task Video

Yesterday, I was able to finish editing my film, which took about 2 hours because I had to add in the rest of my footage, crop it and trim it, and add the titles. Doing this was rather easy but was a very long process. Once I was finished, I showed the two minutes to my mom and to my dad to see what they thought of it. My dad’s favorite part was his laugh at the end, and he did not really have any critique for me. My mom on the other hand, pointed out some of the choppier parts of the film so I could work on them. I adjusted the music and the length of the clips a few times so everything could line up and be continuous. After a few tries, I finally came to a product I liked and exported the film into my camera roll. I sent the film to three of my friends to review and they answered in pretty good time. One of my friends answered within 20 minutes of me sending the film to her and said that she liked what I did. She had previously taken this class, so I thought it would be good to ask h

Final Task Filming Blog Day 4

On Friday and Saturday, I was able to finish filming for my film. I thought I was going to be able to finish all my filming on Friday, but I ran into a few issues that delayed filming. I got to my second location around 7:30, which only gave me about half an hour to film. I had to film a little bit of me running in the new location so the transition from me running in my neighborhood to me running at the spot of the killing would be smoother. This took a few takes because I had to explain exactly how I wanted the shot a few times to my mom. She started filming and then I forgot to tell my dad that he had to do something in the same shot so my editing process could be easier. I then had to explain to my dad what he had to do then after a few tries I got the outcome I wanted. After this, I had to film my dad standing and darken the area around him in my camera to make him look darker. I also had my dad wear all black clothes to make him look more intimidating. The next thing we did on Fr

Final Task Music and Titles Blog

Today I worked on adding some music and some of the titles to my film so I can get an idea of how to do them for my next blog. I added the music to the stretching and to the running scene which was relatively easy. The only major issue I had was finding a song to add. The one mistake I made was not lining up all my music before I started filming. I just glanced over a few royalty free sites and took a note of the ones I wanted. If I had gone more in depth, then I would have had less work to do now. I will make sure that I gather the rest of the music that I will use for the rest of my film on another day. I also could not find a way to download the music off each website, so I recorded the music playing from my computer on my phone. I then exported the sound from this video in the editing app on my phone. I find it easiest to record extra sound, so I have more to work with when adding it into my video. I will be able to cut it to the desired length or add more sound to it when needed.

Final Task Filming Blog Day 3

Over the weekend, I was able to film a little more of my film. I filmed myself running down the stairs in my new outfit for my run, which was easy. I ran into a slight hiccup when I was trying to time how long I wanted it to be, but then I decided to move on because I could edit it to my desired length. I had originally planned to film myself in two different shots doing 4 stretches, but I wanted to make sure that I would have less to edit being crunched on time. I decided to only do two stretches in one shot so I could condense them time spent on each shot. This shot was a tilt because I wanted to make sure that I had diversity in my shots. I had my mom film me running out of the house, which would then fade into me running in the new location. It took a few tries to get this shot right because I heard my mom’s footsteps in the shot. In the next few shots, she had her finger over the camera or pressed the record button when it was time to stop. We then got a shot that I could use and
